Playa Blanca offers the best beaches on Lanzarote with the world famous Papagayo beaches, plus a selection of smaller beaches along the 10 kilometre promenade which runs from the Papagayo beaches to the lighthouse in the west.
All of the beaches are in Playa Blanca and are from 5-10 minute drive away or you can walk down.
Playa Flamingo is a small sheltered beach that is great for small children as there are no waves. The water is clear and it has a number of restaurants, supermarkets and ice cream parlours.
Playa Dorado is a large beach in front of the 5 star hotels, this is ideal for families or couples, there are water sports available plus shops and a great beach bar that serves lunch. You can also snorkel across to a small island.
Papagayo beaches are the natural beaches that are stunning but you need to be prepared when you visit as they are furher out and have few or no facilities. You can drive or catch a boat to these, well worth a visit but take plenty of drinks and a parasol. Beautiful for snorkelling.
Playa Blanca is the beach in the main shopping area that is in front of all of the shops and restaurants in the main town. It is not a large beach but is ideal for early evening where the children can play while you eat and eatch them. It is also ideal for watching the sun going down and for a last dip before dinner.
There are also many more beaches on the island, large popular ones are situated 25 minutes away in Puerto Del Carmen or Costa Teguise. Plus there are surfing beaches at the north of the island.
